Presented by Ralph F. Brady, Historian

In conjunction with his latest book, A Maritime History of Long Island, author Ralph Brady will guide us through some of the elements that contribute to our relationship with the sea. His talk begins with tales of shipwrecks, and the development of branches of service that maintain a network of lighthouses and perform lifesaving duties. The discussion will also trace the history of Long Island’s whaling industry. Join us for a lively discussion and a fascinating collection of old photographs that will bring all these stories to life.

Space is limited. Reservations requested. Fee: $10; $8 seniors. Members free. Check is to be payable to the Friends of Rock Hall.
