When the Revolutionary War broke out and New York City had fallen in 1776, the British fores developed a network of forts along the length of Long Island to defend the New York area and create a front to Patriot forces across the Sound in Connecticut. Author David M. Griffin uncovers the history and stories of these Lost British Forts focusing on sites in north-western Nassau and Suffolk counties.
David M. Griffin is a practicing architectural and interior designer based in the New York area and an independent architectural historian and researcher. Presently, his independent research focuses on colonial-era architecture and structures.
