The Bay Houses of the Great South Bay
Nancy Solomon
The marshlands of Long Island’s south shore are dotted with a historic collection of unique bay houses that generations of baymen have used as base camps for clamming, fishing and hunting. These "shacks" are living artifacts, enduring reminders of the region’s maritime history. In this presentation, Historian, Nancy Solomon will discuss their history and their future. Copies of her book “A World Within a World: Bay Houses of Long Island.” will be available for purchase.
Fee: $10; $8 seniors. Members free. Check is to be payable to the Friends of Rock Hall. Space limited. Reservations required.
