Speaker-Amy Vacchio

Join historian and Rock Hall Director, Amy Vacchio, as she traces the elusive story of

an African American from Newport, Rhode Island to Rock Hall. Quokko was

enslaved by the Banister Family and then later came to Rock Hall when Thomas

Banister married Rachel Martin. Vacchio will explore Quokko’s journey and discuss

what is known about the lives of the other sixteen enslaved individuals of Rock Hall.
