Cartoons of the American Revolution in New York

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, historian and author Sara Cedar Miller will illustrate and discuss several 18th-century American and British cartoons that reveal through that humorous and fascinating medium, how events of the day were experienced and used by New Yorkers and British sympathizers to fight for their political objectives.

Cartoons to be discussed will cover the very first cartoons that were created by Benjamin Franklin, the opposition to Parliament’s Stamp Act, New York’s Liberty Pole, the almost completely unknown New York Tea Party, and the Battle of Long Island.  

Fee: $10; $8 seniors. Members free. Check is to be payable to the Friends of Rock Hall. Space limited. Reservations required.
